Getting started
By default the home page displays the latest catalogue updates and additions. Clicking on an entry will call up complete details about the normal stamp and the catalogued varieties. You can change this in the advanced search section so that whenever you visit Pierron's Online Catalogue, the home page displays only entries of interest to you.

From the top right of the screen, choose your country of interest (or leave All selected) and click search. A results page, based on your choices will appear with images and short descriptions of varieties. Clicking on one of the results will call up the appropriate record page complete with images, descriptions, valuations, quantities and other information. From the record page it's possible to navigate to other records, view all varieties associated with a specific record, go back to the results page, or enter new search criteria.

Advanced searching
If you're after very specific results - perhaps items designed by a particular person, of a specific gum type, issued in a certain year or range of years, or any number of other options - clicking on advanced search at the top right of the screen will call up a page enabling you to search and sort based on all manner of criteria. Complete instructions included.

Navigating results
By default 10 items will be displayed on the results page after a successful search. This can be modified to 25, 50 or All by selecting appropriately from the top of the results screen. If there are more results than will fit on one page, it's possible to move rapidly to the next, previous, first, last or any in between by clicking on the appropriate number or icon located at the top or bottom right of the results page. Clicking on the image or text of any one of the returned results will take you to the appropriate record.

Changing views
Fast, flexible and friendly options on the results page enable you to view individual stamps or sets with images or just as text. Further, you can view results in standard, reverse or random order. And you can sort the results by country order, date of issue, date amended, and most viewed. These powerful sorting and ordering options are all available at the top of the results page.

Records
Before moving from one variety to another or from one record to another, it's necessary to understand the layout of records. It's best to think of the record page as two columns. At the top of the left column you'll find country, normal catalogue number and date of issue details. Directly underneath is the normal image associated with the record while below the image are record navigation icons. Below this is a panel containing details of the normal stamp, a list of the various varieties associated with the stamp, and a selection of additional images.

The top right column has a flag and map associated with the record. By default the first variety associated with the normal stamp displayed in the left column is displayed underneath the flag and map. Following this are controls to jump back and forth between varieties associated with the normal stamp and a drop down menu allowing you to change the currency used for displaying variety values. The panel underneath displays details of the variety, including known quantity, value and other information.

Navigating varieties
Each normal stamp (displayed on the left side of the screen) will have one or more associated varieties. By default the first variety is always displayed on the right of the screen. It's possible to flip between varieties associated with a normal stamp by clicking on Prev or Next in the right column or by clicking on the name of the variety under Varieties in the information panel in the left column.

Navigating records
Below the normal image in the left column are controls for jumping rapidly to the next, previous, first, last or any record in between by clicking on the appropriate number or icon. It's also possible to return to the results page and select another record from there.

Additional Images
Extra images associated with the normal stamp and/or any of its varieties listed under Additional Images can be viewed in a separate window by clicking on the appropriate line of text. Once the Additional Images window is open, it's possible to move backwards and forwards between images associated with the record by clicking on Prev or Next located at the bottom of the window.
